apple tart
serves one
80g-ish of all-butter puff pastry (roughly a sixth of a 500g block of ready-made)
1 small, tart apple
a knob of butter, melted
caster sugar
Roll out the pastry to about 3mm thick. Lay a small saucer on top (mine are 140mm in diameter) and cut around to make a circle. With the tip of a knife, make an inner circle about 10mm from the edge. Prick the pastry within this inner circle with the tines of a fork. Chill. Peel, core and quarter the apple and cut into thin slices. Lay them onto the pastry, fanning them around, within the inner circle. Dust with caster sugar. Bake at 220C/200C fan for about 15 minutes or so. Serve, of course, with cream.
