porridge
The measurements for oatmeal and water below are roughly 1:3 in volume (I use an espresso cup to measure both out).
serves one
50g oatmeal
300ml water
a pinch of salt
honey to taste
a small jug of single cream
Gently bring the oatmeal, salt and water to a simmer in a non-stick pan, stirring all the time. Cook for about 5 minutes, or until it's reached the consistency you like. Ladle into a bowl. Add honey to taste. Pour a little cream onto each spoonful before you eat it. This is better than stirring cream into the bowl because you get a contrast between hot graininess and cold creaminess with every mouthful.
